Climbing route on Cima Grande di Lavaredo, Via Normale

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo are known as some of the most beautiful mountains of the world and a picture of them can be founs in almost every book about the Dolomites.

The first mountaineer to ascend the Cima Grande (big peak) was the Austrian climber Paul Grohmann, with the mountain guide Michel Innerkofler, from the village of Sesto, on 21th August 1869.

The route Via Normale stretches out on the south face of the peak, it is a 3° grade route on perfect, solid rock along vertical walls and cracks. This famous summit is not a 3000 metre one for it lacks just one metre of height.
