Information about Via Ferrata Olivieri at Punta Anna
The Via Ferrata Olivieri was set up by Bibi Ghedina, one of the most renowned mountain guides of Cortina D'Ampezzo. It is well-equipped with fixed cables and has an overall elevation gain of approximately 300 metres.
The via ferrata includes amazing hanging pitches on solid rock and is well exposed to the sunlight. The "key pitch" is approximately half-way up the climb and is technically and athletically demanding as it goes along a vertical, weather-beaten edge.
It is possible to link together the Via Ferrata Olivieri and the consecutive Via Ferrata Aglio: you will reach the summit of Tofana di Mezzo (3245 metres) through an amazing climbing path, which is one of the most challenging and beautiful itineraries of the area. Since it is a long and demanding itinerary that reaches up to a very high altitude, it should be undertaken only under good weather conditions by expert, well-trained climbers.
The starting point of the via ferrata is reachable from the mountain hut Rifugio Dibona, where it is also possible to park the car, or from the mountain hut Rifugio Pomedes, which is accessible by taking the cable car of the Tofane mountain group.
The time required to complete the ascent of the Via Ferrata Olivieri is approximately two hours and a half, while the excursion overall duration time is five hours.
The mountain huts along the path and nearby offering facilies and food are the following:
- Rifugio Dibona
- Rifugio Pomedes
- Rifugio Giussani
- Rifugio Duca D'Aosta
