Ferrata Sci Club 18 to Mount Faloria

The Via Ferrata Sci Club 18 was built in 2009 by the Mountain Guides of Cortina D'Ampezzo. It is the most challenging via ferrata of the Ampezzo basin and one of the most demanding of the whole Dolomites range.

This path was developed with the specific aim of challenging climbers with hanging and technically demanding pitches, that require high muscle strength, especially in the arms. Thus, this itinerary is suitable for well-trained and physically fit climbers, who have good knowledge of climbing techniques.

Information about the Via Ferrata Sci Club 18 in Cortina

The Via Ferrata Sci Club 18 is perfectly equipped with a new steel cable and pitons close to one another and shielded by plastic wedges. It stretches out on the rock face Crepe di Faloria, following on the rocks the hanging cableway of Monte Faloria  with an overall elevation gain of 300 metres.

The path offers an amazing panoramic view of the Ampezzo basin, includes hanging, challenging pitches, is entirely vertical and weather-beaten but stretches out on solid, perfect rock. There are many technically demanding pitches, but most of them are made easier by some ladders and steps.

The via ferrata starting point is at the foot of the rock face, which is reachable by taking the cable car of Mount Faloria, getting off at the halfway stop Mandres and continuing on foot along the trail.

The time required to complete the ascent of the Via Ferrata Sci Club 18 is approximately two hours and a half, while the excursion overall duration time is four hours and a half.

For those willing to live a complete sports adventure, it is possible to go by mountain bike back and forth to the via ferrata.

  • Rifugio Mandres
  • Rifugio Faloria
  • Rifugio Tondi
