Information about the ski mountaineering traverse on mount Croda da Lago
The staring point of the ski mountaineering excursion to Croda da Lago is the village of Campo, close to Cortina D'Ampezzo. From the village, you will have to take a steep road that reaches a large square where it is possible to park the car.
From there, taking the snowy trail which is groomed daily and trodden by the snowmobiles that reach the high-altitude mountain huts, you will reach the hut Rifugio Croda da Lago, 2046 metres a.s.l.. Then continue towards the mountain pass Forcella Ambrizzola and, when you have almost reached it, turn right to get to the foot of the peak Cima Ambrizzola.
Wear the crampons and, carrying your skis, climb up the snowy rills and ledges to reach the pass Forcella Adì.
From there, descend along the amazing rill that lies between steep rock faces and pinnacles: the first part is rather narrow and steep but, once you have passed this section, the descent becomes easier and highly enjoyable.
This wonderful rill leads to the wide valley Val de Formin, that stretches out until Pezzie de Parù, the area where the mountain hut of the same name is located. After a well-deserved traditional meal in the cozy mountain hut, you can go back to the excursion starting point by taxi or by car, if you had previously left a second car in the vicinity of the hut.
