Information about the ski mountaineering excursion to Forcella della Neve, in the Cadini di Misurina mountain group
The excursion starting point is Cortina D'Ampezzo, from where we will take the road Strada Statale 48 that leads up to the mountain pass Passo Tre Croci and to the town of Misurina.
The ski mountaineering excursion to Forcella della Neve starts from a former cable car, now abandoned and known as "Torre del Diavolo" (Devil's tower), at an altitude of 1756 metres.
The first part of the ascending itinerary goes along either the former ski slope, which used to be part of the ski area and is now closed, or the trail that traverses the ski slope and goes up through the woods.
You will reach a summit, from where it is possible to see the amazing amphitheatre of the peaks that surround the trail to the mountain pass Forcella della Neve (2470 metres a.s.l.).
Keep ascending this wide valley until you reach the foot of the saddle, where a very steep and narrow couloir begins. Climb up this steep rill on foot and you will finally reach the pass Forcella della Neve, from where it is possible to enjoy an amazing view of the surrounding peaks.
The enjoyable descent goes back along the same ascent itinerary, but you will be able to traverse to the right or left side of the rill, choosing the best slope and snow.
