Ski mountaineering excursions with the Dolomiti SkiRock Mountain Guides
In the winter season, the Dolomiti SkiRock Mountain Guides organize individual or group ski mountaineering courses on the peaks that surround the town of Cortina. These courses are aimed at improving your ascent and descent technical skills on any type of terrain and with any weather condition. Moreover, during the course, you will learn all the safety measures that you need to know when embarking on a ski mountaineering excursion and the fundamentals of the avalanche rescue operations.
The Dolomiti SkiRock Mountain Guides organize day-long ski mountaineering excursions in Cortina's basin and surroundings, always accurately choosing the itinerary according to the snow and weather conditions and to the technical skills, physical conditions and level of experience of the participants.
In the basin of Cortina and in the whole Dolomites range, there is plenty of ski mountaineering itineraries differing in levl of difficulty and duration time: from the day-long ones to the challenging multi-day excursions, that include overnight stays in the cozy, traditional mountain huts of the Dolomites.

Ski mountaineering itineraries rating system
This system of rating, grading and describing the difficulty level of ski mountaineering itineraries takes into consideration some parameters, such as the length of the itinerary, the steepness of the slopes, the presence of obstacles and the overall technical difficulty.
- F: easy (easy low-angled slopes - 25/28 degrees)
- PD: intermediate (easy slopes, with some steeper sections - 28/32 degrees)
- AD: rather difficult (steep slopes, no terrain obstacles - 30/35 degrees)
- D: difficult (steeper slopes with some technically demanding sectios - 35/40 degrees)
- TD: advanced, very difficult (very steep and weather-beaten slopes - 40/45 degrees)
- ED: extremely difficult (extremely steep and technically demanding slopes - over 45 degrees)
