Ski mountaineering in Cortina d'Ampezzo

Ski mountaineering is an ancient discipline whose origin dates back to the early days of history, when the people living in the mountains used to use the forerunners of our modern skis when they had to move on snowy terrains, either for hunting purposes or to reach faraway destinations.

Nowadays ski mountaineering is a highly engaging sport activity, which consists in climbing up a peak or mountain pass and then descending back, freely skiing off-piste in the pristine mountain nature, far from the crowded ski resorts.

Potentially, this discipline is within everyone's reach, but in order to take on this challenge it is imperative that you have the adequate athletic training, basic technical skills and the specific equipment, in addition to a good knowledge of the mountain environment.
