Program for the Monte Rosa Tour
We meet at Breuil-Cervinia at 6:30 pm; we have dinner and spend the night in a hotel near the lifts.
On the first day of the tour, we reach by lift the Klein Matterhorn that faces the wide Plateau Rosà at 3500 meters. We climb to the summit of the Western Breithorn at 4165 meters, overtaking just an additional 665 meters. Then we drop down to 2597 meters following the Cime Bianche to the small village of Champoluc, located at 1568 meters in the top section of Val d'Ajas in the Valle d'Aosta region. We have dinner and spend the night in a typical hotel in Gressoney.
On the second day, we reach by lift the helipad and with a 10-minute flight we land at Colle del Lys at 4151 meters. With a two hour climb we reach Cima Nifetti and the Capanna Margherita at 4556 meters, with an elevation gain of 405 meters.
The endless descent in excess of 15 km unfolds crossing the Grenz Glacier zigzagging among large séracs and frozen walls reaching the start of the lifts in Zermatt, which take us back again to the Kleine Matterhorn where we follow the ski run down to Cervinia (a descent 3035 meters long).
