Dolomites ski touring at the Tofane

Mario guided a group on an amazing Dolomites ski touring inside the Tofane Group.

Starting from the Bus de Tofana, the group traversed at the bottom of the vertical rock walls of Tofana di Mezzo and Tofana Terza. Before Mount Formenton they started the climbing with skies and skins going through the typical natural hole between the two snow gullies used to go up.

At that point Mario decided to change the planned Dolomites ski touring for safety reasons (to much snow-loaded in the gully) driving the group to ski down the Vallon de Raola, one of the most famous off-piste skiing of the Dolomites: a fantastic location for a descent not exactly easy because of the quality of the snow.

At the end of the Dolomites ski touring, a cold beer and a thought about the right way to go in the mountains with the safety as the first target, even if this means to give up!
