Mountain Bike and Climbing Excursion in Cortina

Beautiful excursion on mountain bike with added mountain climb in Cortina. An environmentally conscious day in the company of Giorgio and surrounded by the Dolomites’ amazing Nature.

We started on our moutain bikes directly from the center of Cortina; we climbed up to Malga Ra Stua, continuing on the breathtakingly steep Val Salata in the general direction of the Biella Lodge. Just before reaching it, near the unpaved road, we stopped at the beautiful gray slabs of the Croda del Becco. Slightly tilted and carved by water, the rock typically acquires “wrinkles”.

We put on our climbing gear and shoes and climbed along one of the countless routes on this face, reaching the great cross on the summit where we admired the spectacular 360 degree view of the Dolomites. Following a downward trail to reach our vehicles, we continued our mountain bike plus climb excursion on the way back to Cortina, along the military road winding down from the Rifugio Fodara Vedla. There we stopped for a big delicious dish of pasta with tomato sauce that we shared with Arthur, the charming owner of the lodge.
